Download the free Motorica Motion Matching Dataset
Use the form below to access the Motion Matching dataset generated with Motorica Motion Factory and used throughout the
Motion Matching Made Simple tutorial series
.
What this dataset is
Motion matching is powerful, but building and iterating on high quality datasets is often where teams lose time. To make this easier, we’re releasing the exact motion matching dataset generated with
Motorica
and used throughout the Motion Matching Made Simple tutorial series.
This dataset is not hand authored or manually assembled. It was created using Motorica’s animation generation tools, then imported, retargeted, and iterated on inside Unreal Engine using Motorica’s Unreal plugins. The goal is to give you a concrete reference for how Motorica fits into a modern motion matching pipeline.
What’s included
- A full locomotion dataset generated with Motorica Motion Factory
- Animations structured and imported using the Motorica Quick Import Plugin
- Coverage for walking, running, strafing, sprinting, starts, stops, turns, and transitions
- Data organized for Unreal Engine Pose Search and motion matching
- A dataset designed for iteration, patching, and extension
How Motorica fits into this workflow
Motorica is used at multiple stages of the pipeline demonstrated with this dataset:
- Motion Factory generates the base animation set and variations
- Quick Import Plugin brings the dataset into Unreal Engine, handles retargeting, and sets up Pose Search databases
- Reverse workflow allows gameplay recorded motion to be fed back into Motion Factory to generate new animations with one to one root motion
This dataset shows how Motorica is used not just for generation, but for iteration, which is where most teams spend their time.
Who this dataset is for
This dataset is useful if you:
- Are testing motion matching in Unreal Engine
- Want to understand how Motorica generated data integrates into gameplay systems
- Need a realistic dataset to prototype locomotion and transitions
- Are evaluating animation tooling for a studio pipeline
- Want a faster way to explore Pose Search setups without starting from zero

The dataset is used throughout the Motion Matching Made Simple YouTube series, where we walk through the complete workflow step by step:
